Some data such as DHW system, ventilation and
lighting can be defined either individually for each room in the zone, or the
same for all rooms in the zone. Use the radio button to define Default data for
rooms in the zone (all rooms will have the same data) or Individual room data
(data for each selected room can be different). If you press the Set all rooms
to default button, all rooms will be set to the default data.
To save time when most rooms have the same data, but there are
some small differences, it may be useful to firstly set up the default data for
all rooms, then press the Set all rooms to default button, making all rooms the
same. Then selecting the required room and making the data changes can define
particular data that differs for individual rooms.
|
DHW system
|
Each room must be associated with a DHW system; you
should ensure that DHW systems have been set up as required using data on the
General tab. The length of DHW dead-leg pipe should be specified for each room.
|
Room based heat recovery
|
Heat recovery for the room can be set up. Depending
on the type of HVAC system heat recovery is either specified at the zone level
or the room level.
- Heat recovery –
depending on the HVAC system specified, heat recovery can be defined by
selecting the type of heat recovery.
- Seasonal efficiency
– if a heat recovery system is selected and the seasonal efficiency is known,
it can be defined, otherwise a default value will be used.
|
Ventilation
|
Depending on the HVAC system for the zone,
ventilation can be specified for each room.
- Ventilation type -
Natural or mechanical ventilation.
- Supply specific fan
power – the room based supply specific fan power (SFP) can be specified, or a
default value can be used.
- Mechanical exhaust –
Toggle on the checkbox to enable the removal of indoor air to the outside of
the building.
- Mechanical exhaust
air flow rate – the required air flow rate is specified.
- Exhaust specific fan
power – the room based exhaust specific fan power (SFP) can be specified, or a
default value can be used.
- Scope of extract
system – This specifies whether the extract system serves a single room or
multiple rooms.
- Demand controlled
ventilation – Specifies demand controlled ventilation.
- HEPA filters – If
the room requires the use of high pressure drop air treatment (including HEPA
filtration) this can be specified. By default, this value will be taken from
the NCM database. If you manually override the default, you may be expected to
provide justification for this change to building control.
- Destratification
fans – When toggled the checkbox help to balance the temperature of the air.
- Infiltration air
permeability at 50 Pa- specifiy the specific leakage rate .

Lighting
|
The amount of lighting energy is estimated by selecting the
Lighting design information available. If a full lighting design has been
carried out, the lighting total wattage per square metre is specified along
with the design illuminance (lux). If the type of lighting has been selected
but not calculated, specify the lighting lumen/circuit Watts. If no information
is known, select Lighting parameters not available and select a lamp type. If
there is display lighting which uses energy efficient lamps, the luminous
efficiency is specified. Air extract luminaries can also be selected.
|
Lighting Control
|
Manual, photo-electric and/or constant
illumination lighting controls can be specified. For photo-electric controls,
Switching or dimming can be used, with an optional back sensor. The type of
photo-electric sensor can also be selected. Occupancy sensing can be used by
selecting the type of occupancy sensor. Time switching can be used by
specifying the number of hours off and the fraction of the lighting that is
off.
If daylit areas have not been created for a room
but lighting controls have been specified, SBEM can automatically generate the
daylit areas. If this option is not selected, the area controlled so as to
respond to daylight needs to be specified.
|
Night Cooling and Thermal Units
|
If a night cooling strategy operates in this room you can
specify:
- Maximum hours of
night cooling per month – This is the maximum number of hours per month during
which night cooling is operating in the zone.
- Maximum flow rate
during night cooling – This is the maximum air flow rate in the zone, in l/s.m²
of floor area, during the operation of night cooling.
- Specific fan power.
If the specific fan power is known it can be entered here.
|
Solar Collectors
|
If the room is served by solar collectors then
they can be assigned from any already defined solar collectors (defined in
tab).
